Janet Emma Garbe is back from a very successful recording session in Texas, where she worked with ultimate Texas twangman Walt Wilkins to produce her first solo record, Ghostfields. This cool blend of East Coast lush & Texas lean, graced by Janet's elegant vocal delivery throughout, hit the streets in May, 2009. Janet's has played a bunch of gigs with her new band, including opening for Eric Brace at the Tortilla Factory! Listen to tracks and find out more at janetemma.com.  Janet and her record have been nominated for THREE Wammies this year!! Stay tuned for results coming in February!

Julia Kasdorf has been pulled away by a number of sirens. She recently wrote and co-produced with Bob Holmcrans her powerful eco-tune, Thin Blue Veil. Is your eco-movement is searching for a theme song? Go download it and some other cool tunes free! She's concentrating on getting songs published via Taxi. Go check out some of her new stuff at myspace.com/juliathinblueveil.

Julia is also building her music teaching business, Waterford Music Lessons.  Come on over to learn all kinds of bass, guitar, pedal steel, keyboard. and stuff.  Julia says "I wasn't looking forward to the end of OHT, but there are so many other musical ideas I want to chase down. Right now I'm really enjoying learning to play Mozart on the piano, then there's my fiddle and my telecaster..."

Drummer Danny Schwartz is keeping busy playing with all kinds of folks, including scenester hipster Justin Trawick. Pedal Steel man Lynn Kasdorf has several upcoming gigs with the great Baltimore authentic country singer, Arty Hill . Arty really knows how to lay down the Hank, and the Hank, and even some Hank, as well as Ray, Buck, Merle, Wynn, and other greats. Lynn gets a chance to play real country music and really stretch out on steel. Also, check out Lynn's Western Swing band, The Oklahoma Twisters, 15 years and going strong!
Stuart Martin has lots of cool things going on, too, including his new rocking trio. Find out more at StuartMartin.org

The Story

Janet Emma Garbe and Julia Kasdorf met in May 2000 and discovered they had a knack for harmony singing, penning, and arranging songs together. Rounded out by stellar "high lonesome" pedal steel man Lynn Kasdorf, and later joined by the inimitable lead guitarist Stuart Martin, OHT is joined by DC's busiest bass players Rico Petrocelli and Nick Mcallister, and the talented and versatile drummer Danny Schwartz of Band House Gigs.

ONE HORSE TOWN performs in the VA/DC/MD region regularly, and began heading out nationally in 2007, including the legendary Blue Bird Cafe, Nashville.

OHT has been blessed to have shared the stage with Nashville up-and-comers Last Train Home, Dead Reckoner Kevin Welch, Rickie Simpkins, Jon Carroll, Orrin Starr, Jimmy Gaudreau, John Starling, Austin Cunningham, the Marshall Tucker Band, and recently, the entire stellar DC music community for the Bob Dylan Tribute at the gorgeous Strathmore Music Hall! Thanks to Ronnie Newmeyer and the folks at Band House Gigs for a most magical evening

Venues such as the renowned Jammin' Java, Iota Club & Cafe, Ashland Tea & Coffee, and the State Theater have welcomed OHT for repeat performances. In early 2008, OHT realized a dream by playing the Birchmere in Alexandria, opening a sold-out show for pals Eddie from Ohio.

Popular international music magazine No Depression published a stellar review of OHT and their debut release, Dawn Will Deliver, in the Jan/Feb 2007 edition of Hot Wax submitted by DC area journalist/reviewer Buzz McLain. On Friday, June 29th, 200, Mike Joyce of the Washington Post gave an amazing review of OHT, calling their cd "a gem" . We were blown away. Thanks, Mike!

The Making of "Dawn Will Deliver"

Three years in the making, OHT's debut release, Dawn Will Deliver, reflects a deep love of music, especially roots, alt-country and bluegrass, and a commitment to carrying the torch for greats who came ript> before - Buck, Emmy Lou, Johnny, Merle, the Louvins, and more recent heavies like Kevin Welch, Steve Earle, Kelly Willis, Patty Loveless, Patty Griffin, and Buddy and Julie Miller.

Jon Carroll of the Mary Chapin Carpenter Band and Starland Vocal Band skillfully produced the project. Jon's profound instrumental and vocal contributions are accented by the artful mastering touch of Mr. Bill Wolf at his studio in Arlington, VA. Bill has worked with Tony Rice, Emmy Lou Harris, Willy Nelson, and pop favorites Eddie From Ohio. Rhythm monsters and OHT buddies Martin Lynds and Jim Carson Gray came aboard for the debut recording on loan from alt-country heroes Last Train Home. Cool cd jacket design by Stilson Greene, Leesburg, VA.
